Ronin had his 6th visit to his pediatrician today. He weighed in at 16lbs 12 oz and is 24 inches tall. The doctor noticed that he scratched up his face and referred us to a dermatologist for his ezcema. Mommy has been putting the moisturizer on religiously and making sure the humidifier is on when he is asleep but Ronin happened to scratch his face two days prior to his doctor’s appointment. Yes, mommy did forget to cut Ronin’s fingernails. Mommy can only clip them when he is asleep otherwise, Ronin is too fidgety.
Ronin was a little fearful of the doctor at this visit. Although it might be because he knew he was going to get his shots that day but it is more likely he is going through the stranger anxiety phase. His grandmother got an earful of this anxiety when she came to visit a couple of weekends ago. Ronin cried when his grandmother came to hold him. It took a day of seeing grandma that Ronin allowed her to hold him.
So, to calm him down at the doctor’s office, mommy had to sing his favorite song, “Frere Jacques”, or as known in English, “Are you sleeping, Brother John?” Mommy happens to sing it half in French and half in English. It amuses Ronin when mommy sings it along with his mobile above his bed. Though, the song was little comfort for the two immunization shots he received.
Poor kid, he slept well after the doctor’s visit. He had too much to handle that day.
