Ronin had his 6th visit to his pediatrician today. He weighed in at 16lbs 12 oz and is 24 inches tall. The doctor noticed that he scratched up his face and referred us to a dermatologist for his ezcema. Mommy has been putting the moisturizer on religiously and making sure the humidifier is on when he is asleep but Ronin happened to scratch his face two days prior to his doctor’s appointment. Yes, mommy did forget to cut Ronin’s fingernails. Mommy can only clip them when he is asleep otherwise, Ronin is too fidgety.
Ronin was a little fearful of the doctor at this visit. Although it might be because he knew he was going to get his shots that day but it is more likely he is going through the stranger anxiety phase. His grandmother got an earful of this anxiety when she came to visit a couple of weekends ago. Ronin cried when his grandmother came to hold him. It took a day of seeing grandma that Ronin allowed her to hold him.
So, to calm him down at the doctor’s office, mommy had to sing his favorite song, “Frere Jacques”, or as known in English, “Are you sleeping, Brother John?” Mommy happens to sing it half in French and half in English. It amuses Ronin when mommy sings it along with his mobile above his bed. Though, the song was little comfort for the two immunization shots he received.
Poor kid, he slept well after the doctor’s visit. He had too much to handle that day.

Our little man turned 5 month old on Sunday. He is getting older and he is showing his chops, literally. Well, at least the buds. He has been putting his fingers in his mouth a lot and that was our clue that he was teething. He won’t take to the teethers people have given him. His fingers will do just fine, thank you. He is even doing this funny thing with his gums where he looks like an old man without dentures like he is gumming his food.
You can tell that he is getting ready to eat solid foods because he keeps watching his mommy and daddy eat intently. He will even reach for his mommy’s cup of coffee (or water). I think it is with the hope to drink from the cup himself. He is even trying to hold his own bottle.
Our little man is trying to grow up fast. He even wants to walk before he even crawled. Even before he has rolled over. He likes to stand on his own two feet on daddy’s stomach or on the floor.
Mommy and daddy are dreading what he is going to be like when he does walk. That is why mommy is going to Zumba classes so that she can be fit enough to chase after the little guy.

Much has happened since the last blog. Ronin is now a happy teething, almost rolling, babbling 15lb, 4-month-old. He continues to babble to himself in the morning and he is able to entertain himself in the crib by talking to his mobile or playing with his toys. He is a happy baby. Always smiling if he is not tired, hungry, or bored.
He had a busy Christmas. He was very popular. His presence was requested at both grandparents’Â homes and even at his Tito David’s home in Virginia. So, in the morning he made an appearance at his Grandmother Mo’s place in Tom’s River where he had piles of presents under the tree. He was fortunate to get clothes, diapers, formula, wipes, and lots of toys, lots and lots of them. He took lots of pictures with his cousins, AJ and Avery. He was all decked out in the suit and hat that Mommy bought for him. He was quite the dapper guy. Check out the pictures for yourself.
More pictures were taken at his Lola Lyd’s and Lolo Pop Chris’s place in West Orange. He wasn’t one for pictures though. He will be smiling all day long at the people around him. He loves people (like his mother) but once he saw the camera he stopped smiling (like his father).
His Lola and Lolo doted him all night long as if they don’t have enough of him during the week. Lolo is running Lolo day care and sees Ronin 5 days a week. He doesn’t get a vacation unless Mommy gets a vacation. Poor Lolo : (Â It is Lola that can’t get enough of him. Vin has a hard time getting her to let go of him when he picks him up for the ride back home. Well, anyway Lola loved having Ronin sleep over for Christmas night since we planned to visit Tito David’s the next day.
It was a long drive to Virginia. With the rain and all the holiday travelers the ride was alot longer than it should have been but Ronin handled it well compared to his parents. It was a tiring trip but it was great to see Tito David, Tita Vinh, Tito Gino, Tita Lisa, Lola Luth, Lolo Hermie, Tita Shirley, Lulu, and especially Tito Vince who came from Hong Kong. Ronin charmed all the guests. Of course, he got more gifts there as well.
He also got a cold there. He is a bit congested and he doesn’t eat as much. Just more often. He also has a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep. Despite being uncomfortable he continues to be happy and he enjoys playing peek-a-boo with mommy and daddy. He still is a big bellied bouncing baby boy : )
