4 weeks old today

Since Ronin is four weeks old today, we decided to add some eye candy so new photos here: photos and a new video is here: video.

Enjoy….

Spoke too soon

Well, I guess that I jinxed myself. It appeared I spoke too soon. Ronin had a tough time sleeping last night. He appeared to be always wanting to eat and he was very fussy and colicky. It was only with the help of Ronin’s lola that Ronin was finally able to sleep but it had to be in the arms of either his lola or me.

It was hard to see him so unhappy. You can feel so helpless at these times. To have someone who is so vulnerable and so helpless in you care is such a responsibility. When they hurt, you hurt.

I looked up in my book What to Expect in Year One and it looks like Ronin might be suffering from reflux acid. I have to check with his doctor but it might explain why he snores at night and he gets fussy.

I am trying to not overfeed him and have him sit up right after feeding. Everything the books and online recommends. I hope that tonight he will be in a much happier mood and then I will certainly be in a happier mood.

almost a month old

Days are passing by and Ronin is growing older. He went to the doctor on 8/21 and he gained back 4 of the 6 oz that he lost and passed with flying colors. He has been working on gaining the other 2 ounces and then some. His mother has to fill Ronin’s belly with breastmilk and formula to keep him happy. He appears to have his father’s appetite and metabolism.

Ronin is also getting used to daytime and nighttime. He is staying up more during the day and sleeping longer during the night which makes mommy happy. Ronin is able to enjoy the great weather this week with the  daily strolls with mommy and lolo-pop. Mommy is definitely getting a workout when she pushes the stroller up the hills in west orange.

Ronin is also holding his head up and will stare intently at people’s faces. Each member of the family hopes that he is recognizing his lolo, lola, tito, mommy, and daddy but at least he appears to be secure in knowing that he is with family.

He is a wonder in a small package. How can someone so small make every member of the family feel like putty in his little hands?
